Watchtower Society and Donations
The WTS has often criticized other churches for passing collection plates during meetings. Other fundraising efforts have also been repeatedly condemned before 1990. After this year the criticism stopped and the WTS began to openly solicit donations.
(B J Kotwall; INVESTIGATOR MAGAZINE No. 73 2000 July pp. 48-51)
The Watchtower Society (WTS) has often criticized other churches for passing collection plates during meetings. Churches that organize bingo, party games and other fund-raising efforts have also been repeatedly condemned. At the same time the WTS has emphasized that Jehovah’s Witnesses do not solicit donations! Comments like the following were common in WTS publications like The Watchtower (WT) and Awake! before 1990.
w1987 12/1 30-31
‘Where do such funds come from?’ is an often-asked question. Unlike the churches of Christendom, Jehovah’s Witnesses do not take up collections or send out envelopes to solicit donations. Rather, contribution boxes—like the treasury chests of Biblical times—are set up at their Kingdom Halls.g1975 9/8 26
…is it not a comfort for them to know that in the local congregation of Jehovah’s witnesses they will never be tithed to pay out a percentage of their income? Nor will unscriptural money-raising schemes be imposed on them. It is at the Kingdom Hall that an unobtrusive contribution box is located for use by those who wish voluntarily to give money to support the work of the congregation. Donations mailed to the headquarters of the Watch Tower Society are also unsolicited and entirely voluntary.w1974 9/15 559
The Kingdom Halls of this happy group are open to you and you may attend free of charge, without having to suffer embarrassment by a request for contributions or the passing of a collection plate.w1971 8/15 506
The emphasis in all giving among the Witnesses is that it must be voluntary and spontaneous, from the heart. In fact, ever since the earliest days of the modern witnesses of Jehovah it has been their policy that never should there be any passing of collection plates or similar solicitations for money.w1962 5/1 278 How May I Contribute?
Jehovah’s witnesses have never gone begging for finances.
Boasts like the above stopped after 1990. Why? Because the WTS began to openly solicit donations not only from its own people but also door to door from the public—and not only on Sundays but every day! How did this happen?
The California Board of Equalization wanted to assess sales tax on the sale of books, tapes and other items by the Jimmy Swaggart ministry. The WTS filed amicus curiae (a friend of the court legal brief) in support of Swaggart’s stance that a religious organization should be exempt from such taxation. (The WTS considers all other religions to be under the influence of the devil, but in this case it joined hands with the devil!). On January 17, 1990 the Supreme Court in California Board of Equalization vs. Jimmy Swaggart Ministries ruled against Swaggart.
One month after the Supreme Court ruling the WTS announced a new policy—that in the USA its literature which was heretofore sold at a fixed price should be offered free to the public and a donation solicited.
The WTS introduced this new donations policy evidently to avoid tax on the sale of its publications. Asking for donations – something condemned for a century – had become acceptable.
Moreover, detailed appeals for donations appeared in WTS publications. Notice how no avenue is left uncovered:
How Some Make Donations to the Kingdom-Preaching Work
• CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE WORLDWIDE WORK: Many set aside or budget an amount that they place in the contribution boxes labeled: “Contributions for the Society’s Worldwide Work—Matthew 24:14.” Each month congregations forward these amounts either to the world headquarters in Brooklyn, New York, or to the nearest branch office.
• GIFTS: Voluntary donations of money may be sent directly to the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, 25 Columbia Heights, Brooklyn, New York 11201-2483, or to the Society’s office that serves your country. Jewelry or other valuables may also be donated. A brief letter stating that such is an outright gift should accompany these contributions.
• CONDITIONAL-DONATION ARRANGEMENT: Money may be given to the Watch Tower Society to be held in trust until the donor’s death, with the provision that in the case of personal need, it will be returned to the donor.
• INSURANCE: The Watch Tower Society may be named as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy or in a retirement/pension plan. The Society should be informed of any such arrangement.
• BANK ACCOUNTS: Bank accounts, certificates of deposit, or individual retirement accounts may be placed in trust for or made payable on death to the Watch Tower Society, in accord with local bank requirements. The Society should be informed of any such arrangements.
• STOCKS AND BONDS: Stocks and bonds may be donated to the Watch Tower Society either as an outright gift or under an arrangement whereby the income continues to be paid to the donor.
• REAL ESTATE: Salable real estate may be donated to the Watch Tower Society either by making an outright gift or by reserving a life estate to the donor, who can continue to live therein during his or her lifetime. One should contact the Society before deeding any real estate to the Society.
• WILLS AND TRUSTS: Property or money may be bequeathed to the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania by means of a legally executed will, or the Society may be named as a beneficiary of a trust agreement. A trust benefiting a religious organization may provide certain tax advantages. A copy of the will or trust agreement should be sent to the Society.
• PLANNED GIVING: The Society has assembled information on “Planned Giving.” Those who are planning to make a special gift to the Society now or to leave a bequest at death may find this information helpful. That is especially true if they wish to accomplish some family goal or estate-planning objective while using tax benefits to minimize the cost of the gift or bequest. This information can be obtained by writing to the Society at the address shown below.
(The Watchtower 1994 12/1 page 19)
With shameless appeals like this, one wonders how the WTS could ever have chided other churches! And one wonders how many JWs have willed their few possessions to the multi-billion dollar WTS while leaving their own dependents stranded.
A further point is that 6 million JWs donate their time to distribute WTS publications door to door in what is called “field service” or “witnessing” or “ministry”. This activity is said to be “voluntary” but the teaching is that JWs who don’t do it will be executed by God at Armageddon. JWs who regularly miss field service for entire months also face ostracism in their congregation and – if they try to justify their slackness – excommunication.
Despite WTS writers often implying that the main source of funding is “contribution boxes” in Kingdom Halls, most comes from the efforts of six million JWs who trudge the streets and knock on doors to offer WTS literature.
Furthermore, these same JWs are obliged to buy personal copies of all magazines and books the WTS puts out. The WTS has millions of captive buyers expected to purchase the publications without even looking at the contents!
The WTS produces its literature at minimal cost. Materials are bought in bulk and every step in production is by “volunteers”.
Whereas free-literature-for-donations came into force in the USA in 1990, it came into effect in Australia from January 1, 2000. Apparently, the Goods and Services Tax, effective in Australia from July 1, 2000, was the catalyst.

I was wondering where to find in the Bible where it says marrying and giving in marriage will be no more after death and the resurrection.
I find it interesting that the witnesses post anonymously. Is it out of fear from the society or pure cowardice? It’s ok for you to have a voice. Really it is.
I was 12 when dad became a wittnes I left the truth when I was 17 hanging around bad freinds I got involved in drugs and alcahole my life piverted in a downward spiral every thing I learned about the truth was coming true the world is getting more violent and sex crazed and the end being preached in all the world which the bible says is happening Iam studing With an elder who is kind and uderstanding now for three years Its been so hard to give up my habbits Im still stuggling with I know they arnt perfect but who is and gods trying to use imperfect peaple to do his job read the bible any bible to see the profocies are coming true Iam now 35 please love one another peaple and be KIND
This is a very cruel thing to say and a scare tactic, and you have the hahahaha I will be rite you will be wrong 5 year old attitude. Congratulation on being one of the dumbest people alive.
According to your attitude and disobedience to love your neighbor as your self you will die in Armageddon.
Yea how very nice of you. That is a prety wicked thing to say. shame on you.
Hi Peter!
Where are you from? We (my brother, sister, and myself) are going through this very same thing with my dad and his wife, except my dad is still alive and kicking. We are in the process of taking him to court as we speak, to try to keep the JW’s from taking him to the cleaners. Email me back, or reply to this post, and I will tell you who to hook up with to help you with this problem.
God Bless You & Yours!
My on going experience with the bible and tract society, They are rude greedy heartless people.
They have just conned MY DEPARTED old dad out of all of his estate.leaving NIL to his family.
The Will they made out for him in typed English he could not read, let alone understand HE WAS EIGHTY FIVE DEAF
And had a stroke then they came and made his will out telling him it would go to his family .but it was all made out to the Bible and Tract Society. His Family now have to fight them in Court to try to get something for them and their invalid daughter.
Where is the love and compassion these people preach?
Hi James,
I have never been part of all that JW stuff, so I can’t even begin to appreciate the effect of such treatment by your family is having on you, and the pain it is causing.
I had a physically abusive father and an alcoholic mother, so, sadly now I cannot bring myself to have much contact with them, even though now they seem to want just that. They want to know just about anything I do, and I really have no desire to oblige.
My father is over 70 now, and I still find it hard to even talk to him, because I remember the beatings and the fact he threw me out of the house when I was 12 and I had to beg my very sick grandmother to look after me.
By the way, that same grandmother lived with them when she could not look after herself anymore, and nagging in the back of my mind are still the very sudden circumstances of her death; in particular how it was not possible to get any medical attention for at least 6 hours while she was in agony, and the doctor only finally called after it was all over. I am not saying they killed her, but I can’t help thinking that with a bit more care things could have been different. Hopefully I am completely wrong there, but I guess I never know.
Each time I phone them, I get a lecture about “honour your father and mother”, and I can bear hearing it anymore, so I very rarely even phone.
Anyway, families are tricky.. But if we here get even just one JW to adopt a kinder attitude to their folks around them, then the whole thing was worth-while.
I don’t know what I would do with a family like yours; most likely keep away. Perhaps I would, like I do with mine, occasionally send them a little money or something useful, to show I have not altogether forgotten them. At the end of the day, life is too short for grudges and hurt; perhaps it is best to build our own lives rather than try to change everybody else’s.
All the very best, and I mean that
Chad
Ignorance is bliss isn’t it?
Yes, I used to think like you did at one time, accepting blindly everything that came from the Watchtower, no matter how insane the comments/propaganda might be.
Call me & others Satan all you like, please take a moment to study facts and rationalize on the points/facts I have provided above. Just because your dream-world doesn’t wish for any of the aforementioned to be a reality doesn’t mean it isn’t.
If all is garbage to what is stated by the Watchtower, could you perhaps answer the following?
1. Why can’t we question Watchtower doctrine without Spanish Inquisition style treatment?
2. Why is there rampant pedophilia in the congregations and at Bethel? Why is it being hidden?
3. Why did the Watchtower Society involve itself as an NGO partner with the UN?
4. If the Watchtower is inspired of God & speaks the truth, why hasn’t even one of their prophecies come true?
5. Which deity gave the JW clan the right to judge others, especially with regard to their salvation?
Being a JW for 16+ years, I witnessed lots of garbage myself. The reality is if a religion’s doctrines aren’t based on solid foundations AKA “truth”, then you have nothing! After all, nothing else matters. Despite many attempts by the JW clan to convince others of a wonderful spiritual paradise within their group, why do I not find many JW’s smiling?
I strongly encourage you to study objectively the origins of your faith, its cult-like mentality and then do some soul-searching thereafter.
Thank you & God bless.
Thanks for the advice Chad, I do not have a problem with what you say, nor is it a new concept to me.
If you go back to my older postings you will see that I have tried on numerous opportunities to extend the hand of friendship & utilize patience when it comes to the narrow-minded and brainwashed comments by JW’s whose understanding is superficial at best.
Perhaps I have had enough of the judgmental non-Christian attitude they exhibit?
Anyway, albeit your thoughts are of one who cares, you do not know where I am at either. My family which has nothing to do with me, since they are in their perfect ivory tower JW religion, continually has been experiencing copious amounts of problems, financial destitution, mental problems/complications & other lunacy. Despite endless attempts to assist, they do the typical JW maneuver and try to keep everything hidden from others. Through other friends and family I always find out what really is transpiring, yet phone calls to the closest members is always nothing short of lies regarding how great everyone is doing. Apparently they must think other people are stupid.
I have been at this for a while; I spent 1-2 years diligently studying this whole religion after I left, plus have spent many years in school with secular & religious studies. I do not for one second regret my decision to leave, it was in the top 3 of best things I did with my life. Once you experience the true freedom of leaving the JW bonds behind, only then can a person find themselves and true spirituality.
It would be poignant to state that I fully realize this is not an excuse to berate or act condescendingly to them or anyone else, however such immature & childish behavior like the one sentence brainless & gullible postings above are where I find it necessary to ask that these people to start to think for themselves, rather than parrot or reiterate some elementary lunacy from the JW God known as the Watchtower. Perhaps this is their idea of adding some extra hours to the Field Service Report?
Thanks again Chad, I take your comment as well-intentioned and wish you all the best.
This little note is directed at James Non-JW, but also applies to some others…
I can understand your annoyance at some of the posts and I know it feels good to let rip, but who is it helping?
There is lots of good advice about on the net on how to talk to active JW in order to help them to start looking at the position they are in. To do this well is not easy, and requires rather more than just logical or doctrinal arguments. There is some really good advice on that on freeminds.
So, instead of shooting everyone of them down as soon as they get here, why not make them welcome, so that they come back? Why not show them a little kindness, so that perhaps at least some of them will start listening? These people need some help, and nobody here can give them any if as soon as they get here they are made to feel that they are not welcome.
So, can’t we try to make them stay? Tolerate the at times silly posts, at least at first, so that perhaps there is some chance to really open minds. If we shout them down immediately, all that is achieved is they run away from here, never read any of the information, and feel even more confirmed in their position than they were before.
Would it not be something if this site really develops into a focus for JW to help them see a broader picture?
Personally, I have no objection as to where it would lead them, as long as it is a really informed choice, so posts from real Christians as well as Atheists should be equally useful. In fact, the richer and more diverse the viewpoints, the better.
Loser?
Ha, ha, ha…that’s funny.
Let me see, how most people would envision a loser…….
Oh yeah, I remember myself what it was like to blindly follow a religion’s concepts that changes with the frequency of how often we change our clothes. Yes, I remember the days I followed an organization that protected pedophiles, personified hypocrisy, stabbed everyone in the back, thought it was totally unaccountable and a whole lot more…yep, only a loser would do such a thing.
Whew, sure glad I gave that up. Hate to be a loser or should I say cult member? It’s been quite a few years for me; perhaps you can fill us in on being a total loser?
Study the history of your faith like we all did and you will realize that you have spent all these years slaving for an organization that built all of it’s doctrines on complete BS.
Don’t believe me?
Well, here is your chance, rather than shoot your mouth off regarding subjects you only have a limited understand of, how about indulging me and others on this site with something concrete.
Please explain the following (this is just the beginning):
1. The Watchtower’s involvement with the United Nations.
2. Their pathetic and insane handling of the pedophile problem within their organization. (by the way homosexuality transpired in Bethel years ago and they hid it/that’s fact baby)
3. Who gave you the right to judge me and others when it comes to our salvation?
4. PLEASE SOME JW PLEASE PROVIDE ONE just ONE single prophecy/prediction from the Watchtower (they have many) that came true?
5. Based on # 4, if you like Chicken Little were to continually cry that the sky was falling (in the Watchtower’s case it’s the end is here/right around the corner…blah, blah, blah), just what credibility would you have?
Instead of displaying your Christ-like spirit of love and kindness (NOT) as stated by your comment, perhaps you could address the aforementioned? Now I realize you are new to this site, however I & many others have asked very similar questions over the duration of our visits to this site, so please be the first JW to stop the grade 4 comments and actually answer the concerns.
Thank you.
New to this faith I wonder?
First of all, is this the day the cult has been professing even with wrongfully stated dates every single time since the late 1800’s?
How about name one, just ONE Watchtower inspired prophecy/prediction that came true?
I realize you are fanatically in love with an organization that has cried “The Sky Is Falling” over & over, yet has never transpired. Their whole doctrinal structure is built on quicksand.
By the way, could you also explain how your attitude reflects Christ in how he conducted himself with others? That’s right, you guys don’t actually worship God, you merely parrot and worship the Watchtower.
Thanks for the uplifting and important comment. Did you spend a lot of time figuring this out for yourself?
Do yourself a favor and look up the word apostate in the dictionary (no not the Watchtower for a change) and see what the term really means. Not only will you be surprised to know that the Watchtower didn’t invent the term, you should also realize that just about every JW that left another religion for this faith is one as well.
Thanks again for your insightful comment….lol.

She waits for an elder’s wife to get disfellowshipped
or disassociated. Then she starts pioneering, sexes herself up,and gets cozy with the elder. Works every time.
yep ID:176303, jeovhas witnesses on the other hand are against abortions, but once a child is born and needs a blood transfusion in order to live, you say no, and kill him/her. So what is the diference.
i know, Catholics and other religions can go kill their own brothers in other country but they talk about love. Garbage. They kill all the babies that were born to the nuns that all their priests slept with to try to cover it up and their talking about Jw’s? I think not!
another apostate!!! Satan loves u too!!
I feel sorry for you! Just when you realize that JW’s were right all along. Your destruction is here! oops too late! u had your chance. But u decided to follow your father Satan the Devil who is The Father of The Lie!! Oh he loves u too!
all of u trashtalking the witnesses, will be the first to go when Jehovah’s Great Day arrives! I can’t wait to see
garbage! garbage! garbage! Get behind me SATAN!!!
I’m sorry to that you’re telling lies about the witnesses. Hope u see the truth
This is a trash site. I’m sorry to stumble through this appostate garbage looking for an address to a Kingdom Hall. Please don’t waste your time. Jehovah always prevails no matter what Satan the Devil puts in front of us. Does it make u feel better as a human being to badmouth Jehovah’s Witnesses? I hope u have a wonderful day or at least try.
It was 1980 and my wife used to do elder care for the mother of a NY Bethelite of many years, in a comfortable period house owned by the daughter. The house was in Brooklyn and belonged to the woman from bethel and her husband “Bob”. He worked as a high officer for the WT Finance department at the HQ in Brooklyn Heights. The house had been donated to the WT by an unknown Will, and “Bob” managed to “buy” it at a less than half reduced market price from the WT because of his inside info and connections, and he was paying it slowly from his “monthly allocation” from the WT (so he said). When the Mother died, the house would became the couple’s retirement residency. No other bethelites of a lower rank that I know, would ever get such a treatment, but rather would become homeless from their Bethel recidence. Those were his words to me and my wife then, and he actually bragged about it to us. We were at the time poor English speaking immigrants dazzled by the “Organization”. It took years of deprogramming to realize the scam factor in that kind of story, and the conflict of interest and lack of honest oversight characteristic of the WT “Inner Circle”. The stories like this that will never be told could perhaps fill volumes. I am really sad that so many have been deceived so systematically, to a scale no smaller than other grand religions who skimmed their blinded flocks for so much of human history of gullibility.
If you mother goes to the meetings and assemblies more often, she should be able to find a half-brain within
Not here, for sure…
This is a site , ehm, not exactly, how shall I put it, favourably disposed towards Jehovah’s witnesses.
I saw a link to a dating service on the official JW website, if that helps…
Hi
My mother has been a witness for 37years. She wants to get married and has been looking for a partner for many years. How do single sisters meet eligible brothers?
I was studying with a Jehovah’s witness. A very
intelligent, kind woman. But when after my mother
died I told the JW that I believed in the eternal life of the spirit, as my mother did, she did not understand how I could think this way. She never came again to study even though for a year I thought she was my friend. This was very painful for me. She said she doesn’t have time to be friends with anyone who is not a Jehovah’s witness
Yes, if you are of an educational level equivalent to grade 4, they are great magazines.
Personally if I want to read or accept propaganda, I would join the cult you embrace as truth.
Since not one doctrine or prophecy of the Watchtower has come true, what good is it?
And you have definitely won the award for the most ignorant JW comment for December.
How do you people manage to get through life so clueless?
so , what if it was still selling them , they are worth it, they are great magazines
I went through every pic you mentioned, if that is how you see it, then all the books in the world that has pics in the , has demos too, even the clouds are full of demons,,, widen your eyes man if that is all what you see, you have a major problem
so, what is the problem,,,I don;t see one,
So sorry about your father. I hope you wrote a letter to WTS objecting to this will. I have heard they will return the $$ if family objects. Don’t know if that is true.
An elderly senile/ill relative of mine was coerced by an Elder to sign a will leaving the family estate to the WTS. After he died another elderly sick relative that needed his share of the inheritance desperately was coerced to sign a statement not objecting to the first illegal Will. So WTS got the money. As I was not a direct descendant I could not object and the others that were descendants were too afraid to object to the WTS.
I guess the pedophiles they are protecting with that money need it more than this family did. That’s wonderful.
And the Society says that this is not double donating. Now, let’s see if it is.
Under the old way, I would pay $1 for an item at the time I pick it up, and that item is mine. Now if I place it, I charge $1 and keep it. If the householder can’t spare the $1, I can absorb the cost and be out $1. Either way, the Society gets a total of $1 for that item.
The new way is that I donate $1 for the item. Then, I place the item and get $1 in the field. Now, instead of keeping that $1 to replace the dollar I paid for the item, I put that $1 into the box. I am out the $1, the householder is also out $1, and the Society gets $1+$1 for one piece of literature. If my arithmetic is correct, 1+1=2. This means that the Society is getting $2 for an item that they had been only getting $1 for. Hmm. That is why it is double donating.
Worse, they often goad people into giving more than $1. The cost is still $1. But they hound about the value being many times this, so the donation goes up. I have heard of $10 donations on a $1 item. Plus donations in the field go up. People often get $1 for magazines that they used to get 50 cents for. I have heard of $5 for the magazines. And the Society says that we are not double donating. It figures when they can be getting as much as $10 or 15 on a $1 item. I wonder if they take $1 for the item and $14 to pay lawyer bills for pedophiles. Hmm.
It is not a lie that you as a publisher need to buy the books. Sure – nobody holds a gun to your head, but the implications and inferrances are heavy…psychologically you know that you should pay for those books and magazines automatically. Then once you place them out in field service, that money should automatically go into the contribution box. So in essence, the books and magazines now get double the profits.
I am just going through the motions of being a witness now, I have seen the light years ago with 3 situations where I know first hand that the WTBS is not what it claims to be.
Best to you all
God is love, thou shall not kill…..except if your in another country, even if you are the same faith. The priest say on sunday, wheres the little boys and girls ?i want to show them love.
Pagan symbols used lets start with the pyramid of CT Russell,at his grave site, The Cross and Crown, come on, what about the Winged Sun Disk used on the cover of The Divine Plan of the Ages, shall I go on.
Further to my last comment – it was astounding that my father’s oldest friend ( the witness who “brought” him into the “truth” ) was informed that my father was dying by his son who works at the Australian Bethel branch in Ingleburn , Sydney. It seems that Bethel was kept abreast of my father’s imminent death. The cynic in me connects the will and its contents and this “interest”. Maybe it is my grief speaking, or maybe it is the elation of freedom to express contrary views now that no one has the power to hurt my beloved father. He died happy and at peace. May his spirit now be truly free.
Susan
For those who care – this begging for funds has, and does, deeply impact upon families. My father died recently ( Nov 2005) and upon going through his papers I was astounded to find his will bequeathing half of his estate to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania ( we live in Australia), he had forwarded a copy to the local branch and in return received a “thankyou ” letter not even signed by a person merely stamped with a corporate entity seal. How’s that for gratitude and a kick in the stomach to his children who cared for him in his illness ( no JW nursing homes places available – funny about that! ). And yes, to those who profess to be JWs if you wnat more details I am more than willing to provide them. Shame on a grasping greedy business for exploiting needy vulnerable people and not even having the PR sense to even pretend that their contribution was appreciated. I guess, though this means that I will have some sort of time share rights to the new luxury apartments in Brooklyn? And pigs might fly.

One of the books “You Can Live Forever in Paradise on Earth” published 1982 by WATCH TOWER BIBLE AND TRACT SOCIETY OF PENNSYLVANIA; First Edition: 5,000,000 Copies.
I will list some examples as follows:
Pages:
17: turn the page so that the top right corner is facing you, look at the top of Christ’s head.
39: turn the page so that the top left corner is facing you, demon in the Jesus’ left hand.
41: Notice anything unusual and out of place about this image? The woman in the blue, patterned (paisley) dress. Turn the page 180 degrees so the top of the page is now facing you. Starting at the neckline look down the center stripe for 666.
41: Now turn the page so the outer edge is facing you, notice the woman in front in the yellow dress. The demon is under her right arm along the edge of her dress. See if you can find the other demon on her dress.
93: There are numerous images in the water and one in the foliage (looks like foliage, it’s green and to the right of the waterfall).
128: Notice the satanic emblem in the chair? I don’t know about anyone else, but I would think that this particular chair would be very uncomfortable to sit in.
134: This is my favorite page. Too many to mention all but here are a few. 1) Demon sitting on the left shoulder of the person in the very forefront and to the right (brown clothing). 2) Turn page so that the bottom-left corner is facing you; on the left side of the tree, down to middle, image of Satan with another demon facing Satan. 3) Just below previous image, also on the left of tree trunk; demon coming out of tree.
244: Bottom image, notice item on the table? A plaque of a horned ram.
You can see some of these at the site:

Camille, thanks for the reply to my comment and do you realize why the Society changed it’s stance on selling the magazines? Yes, they gave a lame reason in their publications, however the truth is they didn’t want to pay taxes, after the court ruling in the U.S.A. involving Jimmy Swaggart’s Ministries. Research it, trust me that’s what happened. By the way, did you think the selling arrangement versus donation changed outside North America? Please read the timeline at:
http://www.theforbiddenknowledge.com/hardtruth/jw_jimmy_swaggart.htm
The other issue to consider is if you are donating funds to the WTS, how do you know that the money is being spent wisely? Perhaps they are spending some on areas they should, however would you like your donations spent on the court cases protecting their image with regard to pedophiles? Why don’t they take some of their millions and spend it on therapy for children who have been molested?
This merely confirms my & others viewpoint on the WTS. They only care about themselves. I know of many JW’s who were financially destitude and the religion did nothing to help them. Where is the brotherly love they constantly talk about? Is this what they call the spiritual paradise? Most of these JW’s did not even associate their plight with this religion & it’s greed-ridden WTS. After all if you’re brainwashed, what could you possibly see other than the lovely paradise?
As far as asking Trudy about the images in the publications, take a look at the following article in this site:

First of all
It is a lie that JW publishers have to buy personal copies of all the literature or the magazines. I am a publisher and I can assure you 100% that we do not have to pay for the publications. Nor does anyone else, we ask if the person wants to make a donation if they do not we leave the magazine with them anyway. Sometimes people take the initiative and offer to make a donation even when we don’t ask.
The publications such as the books are also distributed free. Sometimes persons donate in recognition that there is a cost attached to the production but this is not obligatory.
James I do not know if this is sufficient for you but I am speaking from my personal experience and I don’t think they are making a special arrangement just for me. Everyone else at my KH gets the publications free too.
Trudy, perhaps you could give specific references to the demonic images you are speaking about, so others can check them out.
And another thing! How come this book publishing company can’t get their books right the first time? I have many books that I have multiple copies of from different years. In these books they change/add/delete something but they do not refer to the book as being revised. And what is it with all the Satanic images hidden in the drawings? This one page I know has to have at least 20 or more images buried in the drawing (e.g. demon sitting on a persons shoulder, the devils face in a tree trunk, multiple demons in the trunk). 666 on many pages, people with their hair forming horns, happy couple in a living room with a side table that has a framed image of a horned ram, satanic emblem in a chair. These images stick out like a sore thumb.
I’ve been collecting hundreds of books published by the Watchtower for years since my poor lost child decided to marry a JW and worship a book publishing organization instead of God. One of the books contributed to me by a fellow worker had materials for the pioneers to use in getting subscriptions to publications. Forms used for expiring subscriptions states “OBTAIN A RENEWAL PROMPTLY” for 1 Year or 6 Months. We do have to make sure that the organization doesn’t lose any money, now don’t we? It must be really nice to have volunteers to make billions of dollars for you! Now my child is pregnant by one of Satan’s disciples. I’ve been watching my child turn into a hateful, lying, deceitful person since becoming a JW. God has always meant LOVE to me. That is not what my child is anymore, thanks to this organization.
Again we have a JW how talks but can’t back it up. Lies you say? How about disprove the story? I know that the WTS is nothing more than a greed ridden operation, just like all the other institutions. Nice try buddy, perhaps it’s time to come out of the closet.
such lies.
