Jehovah's Witness climbed into bed with son of fellow church goers

March 13th, 2004 Leave a comment Go to comments

A Jehovah’s Witness who carried out a sex attack on an 11-year-old schoolboy yesterday walked free from court.
Anthony Gibbs, 36, climbed into bed with the boy at the home of a fellow churchgoer after being rejected by a woman during a night out.

Prosecutor Roger Griffiths said the boy’s parents had invited Gibbs back to their home because they knew him through his church activities.

He said, “Gibbs said he had become known to the family because they regularly attended the church.

“But on the night he met them by chance in a pub – they were all their with friends who were Jehovah’s Witnesses.

“He then returned to their home to stay the night.”

Cardiff Crown Court heard Gibbs woke the boy up and the youngster ran to his mother.

Mr Griffiths said, “He said he was frightened of Anthony because he had been feeling him. He told his mother Gibbs had been touching him.”

Gibbs, of Croeserw, near Maesteg, admitted what he had done to police and told them he was feeling lonely.

Mr Griffiths said, “He told officers there seemed to be some temptation. Gibbs told the police, ‘It disgusts me and it has disgusted the congregation’.

“He said, ‘Maybe it’s because lately I haven’t found a girlfriend and was looking for a substitute’.”

“Gibbs said he had been getting on with a girl earlier in the evening and seemed to suggest he was pretending the boy was that girl when he touched him.”

Peter Davies, defending, said, “This was an isolated incident. He has a very lonely background and has now lost everything. He has crucified himself with self-recrimination for what he has done.”

Judge David Aubrey QC sentenced Gibbs to a three-year community rehabilitation order and ordered him to register as a sex offender for five years.

Norma Green :Tony Sedgwick a practicing Jehovahs witness jailed here in Gibraltar in March 2008 for 5 sexual assaults on a minor in the 1980s. The girl in question is related by blood to Sedgwick. He uses facebook. Sedgwick was sentenced to 16 months jail time did around 11 months. There is no sex offenders register in Gibraltar. Details of Sedgwick can be found at the Archives of March 2008 in the Gibraltar Chronicle. The Jehovahs have protected Sedgwick and still do. Sedgwick wrote a so called confession to his ex wife which was about her then 14 year old daughter. Sedgwick later tried to say it was a novel he was in his 50s and it is known he also assaulted her to. The victim refused to complain in regards to the assaults. Sedgwick is an ex Policeman as well. Again its hypocracy that comes from this religion which is a Cult in disguise. Its time local people stood outside Kingdom Halls and protested at them protecting these Monsters. Sedwick is a bigot and hates other religions bar his own sick style of Christianity. He also runs a website called scambusters which he claims is to expose time share companies again hypocracy from a convicted Paedophile. I bet he dosent tell people who use his site over his convictions.

Please See my comment. I am open to helping the cause against JW’s in gibraltar in any way I can. I have much information that may be of benefit to you. I for one would welcome an end to this shocking abuse, united we stand, united we can bring about change and put an end to the ruin of the lives of innocent children. We must campaign for a sex offenders register, we must put an end to these evil practises sanctioned by the sick cult of JW’s. Tony Sedgwick is only one of a million offenders out there free to continue his abuse under the auspices of the JW’s, we MUST stop the rot now or risk losing our own innocent kids to these practises, especially in gibraltar where who you know matters more than what you know and J’s reign supreme.

    @James NON-JW

Norma it is thanks to people like you – that are not afraid to speak out – that these things are brought out into the open. Gibrtaltar is a sick little community where the JW’s have free reign to abuse children. Despite denying the charges said persons HAVE BEEN FOUND GUILTY by a court of law yet are still protected by the elders. It is shocking and disgusting. No sexual offenders records mean these people remain at large in the community to continue their evil practises. The Chronicle records you mention have now been deleted. One wonders how and why this is the case? Who controls the media? Why has access to public records now been made unavaialable? The JW’s obviously exert more control than we are aware of in Gibraltar. Time to congregate outside their kingdom halls and make our concerns public, we must stand united in our fight against the abuse of innocent children.

    Elizabeth,

Lucky for us our God created Satan, for we now have someone to blame for Biblegod’s inhumane acts.

Looking into your good book, lets try to keep score:

People in the Bible who lost their lives at the hand of Joe Hover = I dunno maybe billions.
People in in Bible who lost their lives at the hands of Satan, the father of the lie = a few poor folk, sons and daughters and herdsmen of the faithful Job, and these deaths were condoned by Joe, that good fellow who we all love so much. Seeing as the book of Job is considered by most Bible scholars as a parable and did not physically happen this brings our number of deaths awarded to our villain to the vast sum of ZERO.

Final score of murders in the Bible:
Biblegod – Millions if not billions
    Satan – Zero
    Makes one think doesn’t it?

    Cheers,
    Markus

    Julie,
You spout “facts” from you base on what? You have no idea what you are talkign about. Why don’t you do yourself a favor:
First – research your own false religion for the heracies they employ in the name of God. Nah – that would be too much trouble for you wouldn’t it? Nevermind – continue to do the so-called “Christ birthday” celebration called Christmas. It’s a MADE UP holiday borne from a desire by early Catholic Church to entice Pagans into the boring old Church. It’s a winter solistice celebration you moron. If you are too lazy to read for yourself, turn on the History Channel once in a while and let them spoon feed you some facts about world history.
Second – before you go trashing other religions – do a little research. Jehovah’s Witness do not deny that Jesus was the Son of God. You LIE when you speak that. You MADE THAT UP – that is called a “lie” and the “Father of the LIE” is called “Satan.” So, are you a Satanic Cultist?

People like you infuriate me. Which is greater? Your innate stupidity or your lack of education?

GET INTERESTED! Read and explore life and history for yourself instead of depending on being spoon-fed your unoriginal ideas.

And what do you think will happen when they follow your advice? What has been and is happening right now? Go the one of your elders and find out what procedure the elders will follow. Ask them if it is right to go to the police first? Remember it is not only a sin –it is a crime!

“If anyone is a Jehovah’s Witness and are perhaps being molested or abused then you should perhaps talk to your parents or find someone you can trust within the Congregation.”
NO, go to the police first! It is a crime! Don’t let them cover-up ‘within the Congregation!

Well all i can say is that God will Judge when the time is right. Nothing will kill my faith. Like that other dude said lol the anonym guy/girl, well he’s/she’s right. People do become bad and you shouldn’t judge a religion really by a few “apparent” articles which could have been fiction.
There is alot of immoral Influence in the world today, which is increasing. Standards are becoming worse.

But people who are good at heart and are true and honest will most probably be saved at armageddon.

Sex offenders who are in the truth are obviously false and perhaps Mentaly ill, they perhaps think they are saved automaticly on joining the JW’s.

If anyone is a Jehovah’s Witness and are perhaps being molested or abused then you should perhaps talk to your parents or find someone you can trust within the Congregation.

It does not mean anything… Of course there are child molesters who are of different religions, and also ones that have no religion at all, the only difference with the ones that are part of a religious organisation, namely JW’s, is that they try to hide and deny that it is happening within their perfect organisation. They are a bunch or hypocrites (and not just in relation to this issue)

A JW “elder” came on to me when I was nineteen, nearly thirty-four years ago in Flint Michigan, wishing to fellate me and then have me sodomize him. I was aghast and shook him and slapped him around. This occured during the time when Armageddon was going to occur in 1975. The WTBTS ruined my mind and my life for a number of years, but I finally got my head back together. I have a deep-seated hatred of the WTBTS “faithless and vindictive oppressor class” and to this day I savor every bit of truthful press they receive.

I would like to say that I support and believe everyone here who has complained of protection for child molesters in the religion. The response when I was being molested as a four year old (before our family even joined the religion) was that it was gossipped about in the congregation, I was told I had a masturbation problem only and even elderly sisters in the congregation would treat me openly in front of the other kids in a manner that constitutes sexual harassment. They just don’t have a clue.

If you judge a religion by ‘everyone must never go
bad in it, otherwise nothing it teaches is right and all
in it are wrong’, then you’ll never accept the Holy Bible
and the different congregations problems recorded
    therein.
God gave us the gift of free will. Once good people
can go very bad. Example’s are Adam, Judas, Satan
    and other angels, etc.
We can be assured that Jehovah sees us all and
reads our hearts. We each must faithfully read and
follow his commandments, if we love God, ourselves,
    others, and life eternal.
Not all is ‘perfect’ to the ultimate way just like the
miracle working true congregations of the first century.
But, God still used the faithful ones then, and he does the same as he promised, today.

There is a spiritual quality to every denomination that practices a part and/or a portion of the scriptures and neglects other important parts. I have observed individuals of these two particular ‘denominations’ in the community in which we live become friendly very quickly. They seem to have an immediate bond; even stronger than I have observed between most Christian denominations. The conclusion that I have come to is that both deny the divinity of Christ. Both deny the authenticity of the sonship of Christ as the son of God. Neither recognize Christmas as a day to honor the birth of the son of God. Both have little respect for women or for God. If one did have respect for the latter, one would also have respect for the former. They attempt to make God into a liar, therefore, they become the liars. God is a shield that repels all evil liars. What one accuses God of then becomes their judgment. There are common threads that manifest in both the spiritual and the natural world. The Word of God must be made true…

Floyd – How do you figure this guy was protected? His actions were made public, and he was sentenced by a non-witness judge. And your comment about a room full of elders upholding his story? Are you implying that the judge was easliy swayed to go easy on man who admitted to improper contact with a boy? I highly doubt that. Your comments reflect your anger based soley on your removal from the congregation. The truth here is that this guy called himself a Witness, but his behaviour indicates he was one in name only. There was no attempt to hide what he did. He was sentenced by a non-partial judge, and the matter is now closed. Hopefully he gets the help he needs.

Does it really mean anything that people who molest people belong to specific denominations. Being a Jehovah’s Witness or a Muslim has little to do with why a person would molest a person. I was molested and raped. Both people were not of the same religion. So, what does that mean?

I dont understand i have been disfellowshipped for the past 15 years when do J.Ws go to pubs and start getting on with girls? Did the rules change? Trust me im not defending them, i was molested by one of our local pioneers 15 years ago. The story just does not sound right. Just an opinion.
