Jehovah's Witness elder convicted of raping teen sisters in congregation
A Jehovah’s Witnesses elder was sentenced to at least 25 years in prison for raping two teenage sisters in his congregation.
Oscar Omar Osorto Sr., 47, of Liberty was convicted and sentenced Wednesday for sexual assault charges including statutory rape and attempted rape of a child.
Osorto abused the girls, now 16 and 17, from 2000 to 2004, telling their mother he would take them out to eat, but then raping them in the Siler City congregation’s Kingdom Hall, his car and possibly other places, prosecutors said. He was arrested in July 2004 and was released on $50,000 bail a few days later.
A third sister also accused Osorto of abuse, but no charges were filed.
Osorto was one of several elders in the church’s Spanish-language congregation until last year when he was disfellowshipped after the rape allegations surfaced, according to court records.
The victims’ mother said she was a single parent of four children who turned to Osorto for help and advice.
“Just the thought that he was viewed as a good person, a family friend, killed me inside, because he was not what people thought he was,” one of the girls wrote in a statement read by prosecutor Kayley Taber before sentencing.

I have study with the Jehovah Witnesses for many years.What I have learned is that Jehovah Witnesses our people just the same as any other people in the world.I don’t agree on every belief that they have. I have found them to be good people though.But still they are people and like all people you will have your good and bad. We our all sinner and our easily corrupt by satan. In ever religion on earth, you will find have members who are not truly devoted or faithful Members who have commit truly horrific things.In ever relgion !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.It is truly horrible what has been done to these girls.But do all Jehovah Witnesses do things like this no. Many Catholic and Baptist priests that have commit this same horrific act. What about them, our you so dead set against one group of people that you can’t or just refuse to see what another group is doing. Stop this now, we have a huge problem in our nation of young people and older people being raped and this is found in ever relgion, group, and culture,ect. It dosn’t matter if your black or white, French or Spanish. One thing we can all agree on as a nation we need to stop this blaming game and unity together as one front to stop this problem. But nothing is going to happen if you narrow minded people don’t stop blaming the problem on just one group of people.

You have never heard of sexual crimes in the JW “church”??? Do you live on an island by yourself? Or have you choosen to not truly HEAR? I have 4 friends who were molested by elders at young ages, 2 were actually raped in the bathroom during the Ministerial School part of your program. NOTHING WAS DONE TO ANY OF THE MOLESTERS because it was kept HUSH-HUSH! I was patted on the butt more times than I’d like to remember by predators who said they were Jehovah’s chosen. I had a ministerial servant whisper in my ear that he had a dream about me (I won’t go into to details) all the while holding the microphone for a woman giving a comment beside me. An elder in our congregation was busted for having a camcorder recording in his open closet while he told all of the women at his house they could change into their bathing suits in his masterbathroom……that had been going on for years!!!
There, now you can’t say you have NEVER heard of such a thing. The truth is the truth. Although just because you CALL yourselves the TRUTH it doesn’t make it a fact! PLEASE READ YOUR BIBLE, or better yet, buy one that isn’t tainted, the Holman Christian Standard is good, direct translation, not from a group w/ an agenda in mind! My experience with Jehovah’s Witnesses over the past 16 years has been quite different. What I found was a group of people that are interested in teaching what the “Kingdom of God” is by using the Holy Scriptures. I have never be told that I had to believe anything and have never been asked to contribute money or buy any thing from them. I have attended many meetings at several Kingdom Halls and have yet to see a plate passed. What I have seen are humble people that Love Jehovah and His Son Christ Jesus. They attempt to live by following the principles in the Bible. I have read many of the Bible based books they published and every statement made is backed up with a scripture. The Awake and Watch Tower publications are always informative and correct. I am very pleased to see them when they come to my home or out in filed service. Never has one been rude or pushy in any way. I have met some of the kindest, caring and loving people that I have ever know in all my years. I am not a baptized witness but I do witness now that Jehovah is the true living God and His Son Christ Jesus is the King of his Kingdom and that is the only hope for the salvation of the Human race.

JW’s are wrong in many things….pretty much everything, but forgivness is never wrong. The way they are going about forcing people to forgive & the reason they want the victim to forgive is wrong, since the elders push it for selfish motives on their parts. But forgivness is freedom, freedom for the victim & freedom for God to handle the criminal. Vengance is HIS, not ours.

I hear many stories like this, and its very easy to blame this person or that person but it sounds like if it took your father that long to “find out” there was something wrong there the witnesses can’t really be blamed for. Honestly did she force you to go? Truth is in many homes mothers reach out to religions because they are hurting inside, there is something ailing inside their hearts that no one else sees. Sounds like she found something to help her with her problems. I know you will say i don’t know what im talking about, i wasn’t there, i didn’t feel what you felt. You know what? your right, I cant say that and i wouldn’t blame you if you said that and alot more. That is many times the result of the pain we feel inside, but every person will display pain in their own way and it is really hard to deal with. Many times it is crucial to put aside our troubles with people to find the motive for their actions. Maybe you can still find out what she needs from you and what you need from her.

I can of course see why someone might say hateful things about some one else, maybe theyre bored or just dont like them or had a bad experience once. You see this with anyone who’s a little different, their skin’s browner than theirs or they speak with an accent or they have different plans in life than others. It’s quite simple you want to formulate a real opinion about someone? get to know them, you dont really want to be a part of what they are, then don’t be and move on. Show me the one religion that has never made a change in any of their literature ever. Even the apostles made changes in what they preached for god, or is everyone still supposed to eat kosher? The bible itself was greatly changed during the middle ages by the roman catholic religion (This is by no means an attack on Catholicism, just historical accuracy), was it wrong to try and discern and gain a better understanding of the now more accurate bible. If we do not progress in our understanding of the bible (which actually means collection of little books) then how are we supposed to achieve eternal life? Im asking then give a better answer? What do the prophecies in the book of daniel mean, or the book of revelation? We’re not meant or able to understand gods thought process. Few people will understand these prophecies before they come to fruition and its not going to be the person guessing on his own. Its not that easy extracting all the knowledge possible from a book written by the creater of time space and existence.

Show me where their religion permits them to kill anyone including any one claiming to be Christ. Please tell me, show me once and for all where are all these molestations are occuring give me facts, dates, police reports, actual victims, something. I’m tired of bias, hate, accusations the truth shall set you free, so tell me, show me! No witness is intimidated by accusation they just go on about their day an hold on on to a happy heart. But it is wrong to sway anyone with something you don’t KNOW to be true. I’m tired of people saying they’re lizard men or they molest children or they’re liars. This all sounds like a desperate attempt to brake them down. They died in the nazi death camps with they’re head held high. They go into all regions of the world risking death, incarseration, rape and any other peril you can think of, for their cause. They live life accused, insulted, and even attacked. They’re path is a hard one, not one with the luxury to sit back and accuse others, because when people speak injurious things of them they do not make threats in return. Most religious people will say they would do everything they could for god, but how many are actually doing it and how many speaking out of the dark part of their heart?
To be quite honest members of any and all religions commit crimes of this nature and much, much worse. when the average person of whatever religion commits a crime and we see it reported in the media, we almost never learn what religion they are. When once in a while i hear an accusation of, or crime commited by witnesses, within the first sentence i hear or read of they’re religious affiliation. Most of these stories i read or hear about usually dont pan out, being that they cannot be veryfied or have to many inacuraccies. The truth being neither i nor anyone else likes being lied to and that is without bias of any kind on my part exactly what these stories or accusations are doing. It’s hard to believe the accusations when I’m being lied to or being told these things by an angry or abrassive person. Historically in all nations, eras, religions and ideologies its usually the good guy who is accused, hated, taunted or harrased. Honestly whats the ratio of crimes actually comitted by these people compared to they’re overall members. They also disfellowshiped him, theyre not reassigning him or moving him or defending him. In this world its easy to judge a whole group of people based on one person’s action, but the truth is we’re really not qualified or entitled to.

Let me all tell you something. This religion ruined my life and the lives of my siblings. Years ago my mother (a stay at home mom) was approached by a JW. She was lonely and fell for the idea of outings to church and bible study. The cult that it was encouraged her to believe that my father and us children were the devils spawn because we were not following the JW way. Many, many horrrible things took place in our home and in the home of other JW members “all in the name of Jehovah”. In the end my mother, with help from JW members cut our family photos and placed the pieces on our pillows as some kind of sick symbol. At the time we were 10, 9, and 6 years old. My father worked long tiresome hours but eventually found out what was going on and divorced my mother. The head of the church and a few of the members left town. The church was not helpful to my mother in any way after that, they pretended they didn’t know her. Our family was destroyed and she had no one backing her. The irony is years later she gets her 3rd heart surgery and the JW come to the hospital to remind her to refuse blood. Bunch of hypocrites if you ask me. Without going into the destruction I’ll just say any JW who has come knocking at my door has left in tears of regret after hearing what I have to say. Save your children and stay away from this horrible religion. If you don’t the decision is yours however I will be there to pick up your babies when they fall.

this process of giving 1 tenth of your income is for persons that give,will receive “blessings that would be immeasurable!
Witnesses are not taught to “GIVE” so they do not believe.
Whether or not one believes in tithes and offering the fact still remains(You will never see GODS people begging for bread because of there free offerings

They do not shut it down. I am afraid you have been VERY mis-informed. You are correct in saying the elders help maintain the problem though. Depending on who your friends are in the congregation, that is what is dependant on how your meeting goes. The outcomes are very….well…political. Your elders are being slightly guided by the SOCIETY which is proven to be a FALSE PROFIT. Do research on that. What does the Bible say regarding False Profits? Here’s some.. Isa 44:25 “I cause the signs of false prophets to fail and make fools of fortunetellers. I make wise men retreat and turn their knowledge into foolishness.” Lam 2:14 “They gave you false prophecies that misled you.” Eze 13:6 “These foolish prophets see false visions, and their predictions don’t come true. They say, “The LORD said this.” But the LORD hasn’t sent them.” Eze 13:8 “‘This is what the Almighty LORD says: Your predictions are false, and your visions are lies. That is why I’m against you, declares the Almighty LORD.” Mat 7:15 “Beware of false prophets. They come to you disguised as sheep, but in their hearts they are vicious wolves.” Mat 24:11 “Many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.” The SOCIETY has set themselves up & fallen so many times! They have not given their followers any consideration & obviously think VERY little of you. Do they really think you won’t research all the dates they have given & have not come true? I am now a BORN AGAIN BELIEVER & HAVE FOUND TRUE LOVE! JW’s should teach about the tithe you comment on. Let me suggest you read the Book “The Blessed Life” by Robert Morris. You will see in the BIBLE laws on the tithe, yet another God puts in place for our blessing, not the churches! JW’s just try to contridict what any other “religion” or church does. Since you do not know about the TITHE, they have you believing it is yet another scam from False Religion>>>IT IS NOT>>>IT IS BIBLICAL & it is to bless you. JW’s seem to never preach on the blessings of God, but more what HE requires of you, yet they miss SO MUCH.

The thing that people forget, is that we are all imperfect. I have never in my 37 years ever heard any Witness say that they were better than anyone else. It is well known that the witness’ stress that people of the opposite sex should not be left alone under any circumstances with anyone, male or female. This is for the protection of all parties. It is truely unfortunate that this has happened and the guilty party has been disfellowshipped and will have to answer to Jehovah. It does not matter what religion you belong to. A parent should not entrust their child with any preteen/adult without supervision.
To address the comment above regarding the “dontation boxes”, all of the literature that we receive and distribute is not sold. The building of the the new kingdom halls is paid by the congregation. People are simple asked to give where they can. There is not tithe, required amounts to be donated or collection plates passed. This is the case at any kingdom hall – world wide.
I will never be a Jehovah witness It’s wrong, and there is only one God and his name is God. I can’t say it’s wrong but you really should think. What if there is a God. “I know there is”. You should depply consider the consiquences of this. Hell for one. Scrolls have been found proving that there is a God. The last time I checked no scrolls have been found proving Jehovah. If there is which I know there is not a Jehovah he would only have it no life after you die. But is you believe in Christ you won’t have to worry about Hell at all even if you still are a Jehovah witness. Judgement day is coming soon, and you should pick Christ. So if you consider the consequences of Jehova as your God you shouldn’t want Jehovah as a God that is mainly your religon.
This is an evil act. how the girls parents must feel exposing there children .they thought they would be safe. a responsible member of the congragation used his position to harm those little girls .how sad
the trouble is people hide behind god .im currently having problems with two jehovah witness .my family are being blackmailed . i have approached the congregation but they just dismiss it.im in a terrible state i feel like i cant go on .we have to be carefull more so when it comes to our children.
I am also not a witness and when I went to a convention I was not impressed with the outcome. Surely inside everyone was nicely and behaved properly, but outside the kids were jumping, screaming and acting just like any other kids.
As for the collection plates just like yourself I did not see them, they did have what they called donation boxes at every single entrance with a person standing next to it, as if they were afraid some one might take the boxes with them. Oh, and one more thing during the announcements people were reminded were the boxes were placed so that people could donate.
Maybe it is you but I saw a different movie for sure.
I am not a witness, but what i have learned is this. First i do not believe they bash any other religion, and this religion by far even with some of its bad apples makes more sense than any other religion. I also notice that these articles do not mention the disapline these people were given by the jehovahs witness religion. Maybe it just me, but this is what i have noticed. I went to a convention for one day, i was so impressed, they were well mannered and the children were the same. Everything was so well organized. I think also what impressed me was that there were no collection plates and that only if you wanted to, you could contribute to help pay for expenses for their convention.
