If we judge a religion only by some of its members that went bad, we would never except the earliest church in the first century.

Those who follow Christ are those who were bought from slavery to sin and are accountable to God now. Whether any man chooses to go back to their former master, sin, is not something to dwell on as it is not in our control.

Romans 14:22 – So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the man who does not condemn himself by what he approves. But the man who has doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin.

Don’t see this as a reason to condemn the JW’s. If you don’t believe they are the truth then find it and walk in it. A good way to change ones thinking is to say “is my life/worship pleasing to God” rather than “is my worship more pure than the next guys”, thus taking God out of the picture.

The message of Christ has been preached for nearly 2000 years now and has not reached everyone. Yet the bible says:

Matthew 24:14 – And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations and then the end will come.

If the end hasn’t come then the message isn’t preached everywhere yet. Who is right?

Why are people today so judgemental these days. Why do we always want to point a finger at someone. We live in an imperfect world with imperfect people and we all make mistakes and will continue to make mistakes. If we had all the answers maybe things would be better but this is life and we deal with the good as well as the bad stuff. Forgiveness is probably one of the hardest things for us to do as humans. Jesus forgave sinners and Jesus was a perfect man. We on the other hand are imperfect sinners and we act so high and mighty superior to others and we have a hard time forgiving others. Who of us stands perfect before Jehovah God. I don’t think any of us do. We’re no different. Yet we want to show humility and humble ourselves before God our creator. I for one try my best to forgive others no matter how hard it may be and hope to be found favorable before God come judgement day. None of us can read peoples hearts but God Jehovah can, so I will leave matters in Jehovahs hands. And pray for the best.

I think the point being made here is that the elders or indeed ms or even just brothers or sisters for that matter! in the congregation are ALLOWED to continue their evil ways BECAUSE the GOVENING BODY Allows them too.

You are correct anonymous, if we bother to look in the bible, they had no authority to put people in prison for such crimes; they would have been stoned to death according to the bible. If you bothered to look in the bible, the JW policy is the same one God gave to his people. Jehovah’s Witnesses have no authority to put people in jail. If someone reports a rape to them, they direct the person to the police.

This should not have a negative effect on the true congregation of god. This individual was put out of the christain congregation when his sin came to light. To: Ken, yes, these two girls had professional counseling to help them get through the ordeal. It was administered by 2 elders in the back room of the kingdom hall and they were also told not to divulge any of the information to the ones outside otherwise they would be fisfellowshipped. They were also told it was all their fault and they should have prayed more.
Isn’t this the way counsel is administered within the JW’s? At least it was while I was one of them.

Eric, you may hear on the news everyday of a priest that has raped or molest children so what would make it different from the JW’s you ask. Well, according to your cult we are all bad and marked for death. JW’s are the only true religion on earth backed by God, so shouldn’t you be different. I left the Jw’s 4 years ago for the very same reason. An abuser in my congregation was caught but because kept on confessing was readily forgiven. This abuse continued for about another 5 years, I eventually got the circuit overseer (Darrel Marlow) involved. He could not believe the elders had left this matter go on for so long. A judicial committee was put together with what result you might ask? Well the abuser put on another good show (cry a lot) and was readily forgiven once more. The abuser was silent reproved. That meant that no one besides the elders the abuser and abused (I was not the abused, but discovered the case) would not know of the case. Therefore, leaving room for the abuser to find another victim.

This in my view is the biggest problem in your cult apart from false prophies of course. JW’s cover up all matters to give the appearance of a clean cult. My conscious would not allow me to stay in the cult anymore I discussed the case with my wife and we wrote letters to the society and left.

As for your advice to read our bibles, we do just that my friend, in turn you should take the same counsel and apply it to yourself. Forget about the magazines you get from the Org (watchtower, awake, other books………..) This type of propaganda you should send to Iraq, yes, as weapons of mass destruction.

If your child is molested call the police and have it investigated.
Do not appoint child molesters to positions of authority in the congregation.
Child molesters never allowed calling on the public in door to door work.

The current policy remains as follows;

Calling the police is an option for parents to decide. When elders are notified they remain neutral unless they reside in one of the few states where it is required by law for ministers to report.
Confessed child molesters can be reappointed to positions of trust after twenty years. Accused or convicted by a court of law child molesters can continue to serve in their assignments.
Due to silentlambs in May of 2002 this policy was adjusted to require a partner when a molester participates in door to door work yet in most cases the partner does not know the person they are with is a child molester.

The recent article in the August 1, 2005 issue of the Watchtower magazine furthers that premise. In an article entitled, “When is there a basis for taking offense?” The following comment is offered about rape;

“A woman who has been raped has a right to be highly offended, as this is a major crime in God’s eyes. Under the Mosaic Law, a man who raped a woman was to die ” just as when a man rises up against his fellowman and indeed murders him.” (Deut. 22:25, 26) While we are no longer under that Law, it gives us insight into how Jehovah feels about rape a horrible wrong.

“In our time, rape is also a major crime with severe penalties. The victim has every right to report the matter to police. In this way the proper authorities can punish the offender. And if the victim is a minor, the parents may want to initiate these actions.”

What is the point of these comments? Does this represent a balanced view toward a person that is a victim of crime? Do women that experience the violent crime for forced sexual intercourse need to be instructed they have the “right to be highly offended?” Is the right of a woman to be “highly offended” less than the right of a child? The Watchtower article is a statement of policy on child rape that was first mentioned specifically in a letter to elders. In the February 15, 2002 letter to all Jehovah’s Witness elders the comment was made,
“If you are asked, make it clear that whether to report the matter to the authorities or not is a personal decision for each individual to make and that there are no congregation sanctions for either decision.”
In this directive elders are being instructed to sanction lawlessness. That is the ignoring of mandatory reporting laws in all fifty states. This law has been in effect since 1996 and leadership of Jehovah’s Witnesses has been well aware of this law, yet in their policy they thumb their nose at the law when a child is raped. The federal law Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA)(Jan. 1996 version), 42 U.S.C. 5101, et seq.. requires all fifty States to comply with MANDATORY reporting or lose federal funding, no State is not receiving Federal funding due to non-compliance.
The Watchtower article of August 1, 2005 is the first public statement of that policy that has remained unchanged for the last twenty plus years. Parents are not encouraged to report the crime of rape of a child but instead are left with the statement, “they may want to initiate these actions.” How would that sentence relate to murder?
If your child is murdered and the victim is a minor, the parents may want to initiate these actions.
Does that statement seem out of context to the reader? Why would the rape of a child be left as an “option” for parents to consider reporting to police? Is this in fact enabling a sadistic criminal to have access to more victims? This policy is a violation of MANDATORY reporting laws in all fifty states and is also in violation of JW doctrine that requires all JW’S to be in subjection to the “superior authorities” in all legal matters unless man’s law conflicts with God’s law. In this instance Jehovah’s Witnesses are being encouraged to condone the defiance of MANDATORY reporting laws on child rape and leaving it a personal decision.
We encourage the public and Jehovah’s Witnesses to demand a retraction of this policy and suggest, yes require the reporting of all child rape to proper authorities. We further propose the installation of all three requests to protect children within the religion as well as children that Jehovah’s Witness child molesters visit in their door to door work. We ask that the use of donated funds to the Worldwide Work be suspended in the legal defense of pedophiles.. Do these requests seem outlandish? When that was written a few people did come forward and offer assistance but soon faded into obscurity. It came back to mind when seeing the statement, “When good men do nothing, evil prevails.” We see a group of twelve men that claim to follow Christ that further claim to have the direct Word of God as the only channel of God on earth. They call themselves the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses. When they are humbly asked to protect the children under their charge with three very simple policy adjustments they instead stay the course and ignore the suffering of raped children. This request was first made in 1992 by the “Awake” Writing Committee and now for thirteen years how many thousands of children have had their innocence taken due to their lack of decisive action? The Bible offers many comments as to consequences for men that allow children to be hurt yet in the passage of time one simple statement holds true, “evil pr! evails.”

We encourage you the reader to write Jehovah’s Witnesses at Watchtower, 25 Columbia Heights, Brooklyn, NY, 11201. Send them a copy of this article with the three adjustments to current policy noted. Demand that they change their policy on child abuse to protect all children that see or associate with Jehovah’s Witnesses.

The two comments before mine were exactly right on. The great W.T.B.T.S. is nothing but a dictatorial CULT. Everyone that is associated with them should take note. They still hide pedophiles. They still hide them because it means law enforcement might get involved and then attorneys, and then they lose their precious money. You see they love money, and they lose it when they go to court. The last congregation i went to, had three pedophiles, and they were hiding them. This is a shame that the people have to put up with it but, they are going to have to get out of the great W.T.B.T.S. to get away from it. To bad, for these families. like the one person said before me, “it makes you sick”

I keep reading these stories of JW’s who are rapists, pedophiles….and I think back to when I was a child in the organization during the 70’s and 80’s. A JW friend in high school was raped by her uncle, also a JW. And, a man who was in our congregation raped his adopted daughter, his wife, his wife’s niece, and whoever knows who else. Back then, nothing was ever done to these men. They were not disfellowshiped. The girl I knew who confided in me told me that she was told to “leave it to Jehovah” and not report to the police. Is this what God’s people should do? To me, it goes against my deepest notion of what is right or wrong. We see that sexual predators do this over and over and over and over…. By not doing everything in our power to make the rapist go to jail, we are participating in his next rape. That is WRONG.

Now, I do not go to the meetings. But, I hear from family members that many of the Society’s magazines & assemblies push “family values” and “valuing children.” Is this Bethel’s legal department’s response?

I also think of how these two girls lives have been shattered by this raping. First, I’m sure they were virgins, the hopes of giving a wedding night present to the man who they will eventually marry is gone. Every male relationship they enter will be haunted by their terrible memories. The ability to trust and attach during a relationship is gone. They will hold back on their emotions for the rest of their life. God wanted us to abstain from pre-marital sex as he knew that engaging in it repeatedly with different partners wrecks our abilty to form strong relationships. Just imagine what a rape would do. So sad.

Shame, shame, shame on this man. Shame, shame, shame on the Society for harboring the two rapists I knew… and all the others. So Bethel, JUST HOW MANY RAPISTS ARE IN THE SOCIETY?
