Video of two Jehovah's Witness Elders announcing a Wrongdoer that he is Disfellowshipped
A man filmed the announcement of his Disfellowshipment made by two Jehovah’s Witness elders who came at his door. Watch the video!
About Disfellowshipping
Excommunication or Disfellowshipping is an extreme form of shunning practised by Jehovah’s Witnesses. A disfellowshipped person is not to be greeted either socially or at meetings and is often shunned by family members. Jehovah’s Witnesses regard Disfellowshipping as a biblically-sanctioned means of bringing the wrongdoer back into the congregation and protecting other Witnesses against evil.

If someone is disfellowshipped. It’s read from the stage.
ThanX for the link; but I think it will generate as many pages of comments here as it has generated over there!
Just as a note to those saying it’s not a real video. It is. I know both of them personally as well as the person taping. No one has to believe me but it is the truth. And no, I don’t know the circumstances behind this or the history behind the event.
Hi again:
I find it interesting that the Watchtower Society never publishes the number of people disfellowshipped each year. At one time, they would proudly publish the figures of those excommunicated each year-until the media started to focus in on the numbers who are disfellowshipped each year from Jehovah’s Witnesses. Who knows how many a year are disfellowshipped-100,000? Only the Society knows for sure. They love to keep information from their publishers because it makes the Society feel superior to all other Witnesses. This is one way that the Society uses to keep the publishers down. Personally, I would give the average Witness more brains than the average Bethel worker.
Hi:
I would never let the elders disfellowship me. I left on MY terms. I wouldn’t give the elders the satisfaction of disfellowshipping me. I wrote a letter of dissassociation instead. I would have been disfellowshipped. My crime? I started to attend another church. The elders didn’t know what hit them. I dropped off my letter of disassociation at the Presiding Overseer’s house on a Saturday and the very next day I started to attend my new church. I felt good because I beat the elders to the punch. Why? The elders could not touch me in any way!
This topic is also currently under discussion at the following link:

It has generated 12 pages of comments. Go over and share yours there as well.
At least they came and told you. I wasn’t even told.
I tend to agree with you on this one, however I feel many many abuses take place.Power on an honor system, with little in the way of checks and balances all too many times results in tremendous abuse.
Gail, There are plenty of elders with mustaches. My father has worn one all his adulthood and been an elder for more than 40 years.
One thing that is a shame is that it is so obvious that most people who have never been a dub just dont ‘get’ it. And there isnt any easy way to clarify it to them.
I can read through the posts here and easily point out the posts from people who have only secondhand or surface knowledge about jw’s.
They are usually the ones who, along with the still brainwashed current jws, find some meaningless critique or problem with the video or the demeanor of the person taking it without realizing the deeper meaning of what is taking place.
Most people just dont get it and it takes so much research and time for them to really understand what is going on in this cult that most people just ignore jw’s like they are just an annoying but harmless little group.
Its a shame.
Terry – I checked it out and the website is jw-media.org.Hope this helps
Terry the web site is the official Russian Website. I imagine it’s still in effect. I saw it quoted in our local newspaper 3-28-04. It was an associated press release.
I’ll check further and get back if I can find the site
Even if The person video taping never got the letters, the elders were right there for him to ask why he was being disfellowshiped. The Person video taping never ask Why he was being disfellowshiped, because He already knew why. He didn’t care about being disfellowshiped, he was just having fun with his video.
Well Cindy, I’m sorry you feel that way. If you are in Wisconsin someday you can visit the Marshfield Congregation and meet Bob and Dennis. I’m sure they will tell you that it was not setup.
Canadianwoman79 (Comment ID: 2356), I believe very much in what you had to say, however it will fall on deaf ears of those still involved with this cult.
The strange thing is, I wonder how many of these people will go and fill out their publishers card, adding hours in for their comments here?
I too believe we should practice spirituality, having our own relationship with the Creator & Christ. The WTS tries to be a meditator, in effect taking the place of Christ. That of course is totally wrong.
Continue to stand strong, the JW’s can say all they want, however I still maintain the onus is on them to justify their beliefs with factual evidence, which has not yet transpired. Comments that reflect a judgmental and self-righteous attitude have little merit, they should be taken for what they are, nothing.
God bless,
James
Post 2354—Richard, you should not blame the organization for the your short comings! If you are one of those guys who commits fornication, or molestation they should do their best to kick you out.
Now, if a person decides that he/she no longer wishes to be a JW and leaves the nitwits, why should they be punished? I left in good terms; I decided that being a witness was no longer for me. I could not get the hang of having a molester that was protected in my congregation. Now tell me what crime did I commit for the punishment that my 3-year-old son receives. Is it a crime when you stand up against the elders for having a predator in your congregation protected, while the others parents and children have no clue what is going on and therefore not being able to protect their own children? Yes my son’s grandmother was admonished by the elders not to have any relation with my son or us for that matter. As a result she has not seen him in over 2 years. We only live 1.7 miles away. I have tried everything but things wont change. I will ask you again, what crime did we commit???
This video is just funny. I have yet to see an elder with a mustache.
This whole video is full of bologna. Those are not elders. They were all actors to try to pull people into believeing this crap.
lack of love huh??? you know how full of bull you are?? I decided out of my own conscience to leave, and now no one will talk to me?? HOW LOVING IS THAT? I completely expected that people would keep their distance no worries there , we are supposed to be going by god’s rules and not by man’s.
as far as I’m concerned JW’s only go by the rules made up in the watchtowers and awake and that bible which has been changed 2000 or more times!!!! NO BODY knows what’s going to happen to them when they die ( you can try and tell me all you want that we will go into the ground until armeggedon) No body has come back to tell us, we will all find out for ourselves. I pray to god at home now, I want nothing to do with organized cults. I DO NOT blame anyone else for my choices to leave and I don’t mind that I don’t know where I’m going seeing as the ressurection is only a “HOPE ” and not 100% going to happen.
ohhh and for the man who wants to start telling people about the other side of JW’s cult…. Count me in.
Thanks
Tell me, is there anywhere else that you can obtain the spritual knowledge that you do from Jehovahs Witnesses? Is it not true that for the most part the brothers and sisters truly try to live and conduct their lives in a way that is not only pleaseing to Jehovah, but also to mankind?
There will always be someone there to put a wedge between Jehovah’s people. I to have been disfellowshiped, but I’m not blaming the orginazation for my short commings. I see fault with the elders and the ways in which the orginazation treats the uper class.
If you have issues with a brother, or brothers you could always take your grevenences to a highr level within the orginazation.. No, most don’t want to do that, they’ed rather complain. That is playing right into the hand of Jehovah’s enemy”SATIN” himself, oh glad you must be making him. Love, the love that you claim is lacking from the brothers seems to be also lacking from you.
Well, where do I begin ? There are a couple of things with this video that cause me to wonder what the motive was for the video to be made, and second, why the elders did not advise the disfellowshiped brother as to why he was being disfellowshiped. They quoted a scripture as to why a person should be shuned.
I found the disfellowshiped brother to be somewhat evassive, and not truthfull when he said he did not receive a letter, although three times letters were mailed to him .I think he was looking for amunition for his documentery. He never asked why he was being disfellowshiped, he only stressed the point that he had been D.F. without being before the elders in person.
He probably already knew why he had the elders at his door. Seems like this D.F.B. had missed several meetings, and did not come across as being very humble. He never extended his hand, or offered the elders in his home.
I think the brothers did the right thing by rejecting his request when he offered to read a letter, or some information he had prepaired and ready for arugument.
If this brother does not want to be associated with the Witnesses any longer, all he needed to do was leave. I have to ask myself what point it was the was attempting to make.
Anyone can find fault with anything at any time. So, what’s the point ?
just a reply to your comment. I was also raised in this cult and left at the age of 17. My family did not really speak to me for about 8 years and now have finally left this ungodly organization. Guess what? for many years I was bitter, angry and pissed off but then I realized that all that anger was just hurting me. You sound just like how i used to feel, but you have to take control of your life. You can do alot of good educating others about the evilness of this organization. They are mere men blinded by the society. don’t let the JW’s take this much control over your life- they are not from God
Fri, you have told me your story before, however it does not lessen its importance whatsoever. You were an excellent role model, knowing that it was NOT God’s will to have his own people protect pedophiles and other garbage. So, how could it be God’s org, correct?
For beentheredonethat (Comment ID: 2332), I feel your pain and please know that many of us are with you.
You know everyone reading these comments like those of Fri’s above or beentheredonethat, who understand the full significance of how a mind controlling group can be so manipulative, so as to be hurtful & destructive, all in the name of towing the WTS agenda, IT’S TIME TO UNITE.
When will we stand together and bring down this org?
Bigger groups and controlling forces have fallen in the past, I realize that the WTS are dying a slow death due to their own callous attitude & their false prophecy, however do you all not think it’s time to make a difference?
What can each one of us do to stop such atrocities? Should we adopt the WTS philosophy of covering things up, by stating to let Jehovah take care of matters? Do you think that God wishes us to sit on our asses like the WTS does and hope that something will happen?
We all know that the WTS’ days are numbered, however we also know that all great accomplishments in life were created or driven by someone or a group with passion & the need to make a difference.
What can each of us do?
I strongly encourage all of us ex-JW’s to first stop being bitter about how moronic & unloving this religion has been, and start looking to help others open their eyes.
As an analogy, if you have seen movies like the Matrix, you know that the machines (WTS) made people believe they were living in a dream world (spiritual paradise), not perfect, so as to not raise awareness, however was it the real world? No, certainly not.
Sure, we could sit here and nit pick about this or that, or maybe fight against every fanatic JW that shows up at this site. What good does that do? And for all you JW’s that show up here posting comments, what good do you think it does to be negative, judgmental and condescending, should that be the nature of your postings?
I am not sure right now how a revolution to expose the WTS would look, however I firmly believe that it needs to be talked about in length, as all concepts start with an idea.
For my part, if you are a JW & felt that I was mean to you, then I apologize. I am truly sincere here and would like to see people take an active role with regard to stopping such a destructive religion.
I welcome all comments or reactions to this, let’s talk folks and then let’s take action!
Thank you for your time,
James
beentheredonethat (Comment ID: 2332) – I sympathize with you very much, I too live/lived similar situation. My wife and I decided to leave the Org upon I being involved with a judicial committee where an abusing case was covered up for about 5 years. Even when the abuser confessed for the 3rd time in those 5 years, the person was still forgiven because once more showed repentance. 2 elders agreed the person should be privately reproved, I could not agree with such a hypocritical outcome; I got up from the judicial committee and vowed to never return again. My conscious would not just allow me to stay any longer.
I discussed the situation at home with my wife and decided we could no longer be part of such group, yes one who harbors molesters. Once out my wife and I decide it was time to have children. We had a baby boy, and my mother in law (mother in law was/is a JW) saw him every weekend for the first 9 months.
The elders told my mother in law that she should have NO contact with us anymore; therefore she has not seen my son or us in over 2.5 years. The only grandchild this woman will ever have. Is this sick or what??
How can they go from door to door and talk about such loving organization when they themselves cannot show love to their own families??
Witnesses are so brain washed that they do anything the jokers from the society tell them to. It is sickening in this day and age when jw’s can so easily manipulate people, not by bible principles but from ideology from a group of men who claim to be the bridge between God and mankind.
I personally feel the video is a masterpiece. I just wish the guy had the two questions with him so he could have just asked them and gotten their reaction.
I think some people who have never been in this cult dont realize that it doesnt matter if he had attended his ‘trial’ or not. They would have come to the same decision unless he had come out and said ‘i’m sorry i asked questions that you couldnt answer about our beliefs, i will only do and think what the organization tells me i am allowed to from now on”.
The ‘trial’ is just a chance for several elders to gang up on the person and pretend like they are doing Gods will.
I know because I was one of the stupid ones who actually attended my trial because at the time I hadnt freed my mind and I wanted to be a part of the organization even though I had left on my own temporarily. The first meeting was them degrading me to the lowest point by forcing me to describe in full details the sexual relationship from whence my son was born several months previous. I left that meeting more depressed than I had ever been in my life..that is until they called me and told me they wanted to meet again. The second meeting with three elders again one of whom I grew up with was a repeat of the first only this time with accusations that I was lying about how I didnt enjoy the sex and how it i should admit that it was me who initiated the sexual encounters.
Fully brainwashed as I was I truly believed that these men were under the influence of Gods holy spirit and that it was Gods will for them to be doing this to me. I left that particular meeting in tears and suicidal and it was only with great focus on my son that I made it home without delibrately running my car into a brick wall. After that I fell into a deep depression and refused to answer the phone or the door when they kept calling and coming by. I just decided that I didnt care if God was going to kill me for leaving the organization or not, which is what they teach, I was not going back for more of the same.
I heard rumors from my family that my father who was also an elder had been told by one of the elders on my committee that they were going to let me back in when I met with them again. My family encouraged me to meet with them one last time and it would be in my favor. I refused and never set foot inside their building again.
I never recieved any letters from any of them. I only found out that I was officially disfellowshipped from my mother after it happened and she called to tell me that I put the family in an awful situation because now they have to shun me and it will be very hard to do that when I have their beautiful grandson that they want to spend time with. I was made to feel guilty and like I was now evil. My father hasnt spoken to me since and it has been 6 years. I havent spoken to two of my sisters except for at funerals since. My mother and other sister have kept in touch only to keep their relationship with my son. They make a weekly phone call to see how he is doing and send him gifts in the mail. They tolerate my existance on the occasions that they want to visit him.
I have all but lost any family I had as well as all the so called friends I had in the organization and have had to start life over again now that I have been freed of the mind control brought on by being born and raised in a cult.
That is what happens to a person or family who is ‘disfellowshipped’ and the guy with the camera has all my respect and admiration because he realized he is not bound by their rules and does not believe for a second that that organization is inspired by God. I wish I had been so aware when I left it would have saved me a lot of unnecessary emotional pain.
The charges against the individual are not the issue (it is not for any gross or repulsive sin) For over 7 years he and his family have been harrassed by the Body of Elders in his previous and this current congregation. Harrassed over how they dressed, where they sat at congregation meetings, whom they spoke to, amount of time or lack thereof spent in the house to house ministry. He was outed because he asked questions that the elders couldn’t or wouldn’t answer. He questioned their authority. They would say “Do it because I am the Elder and I said so” That is not scriptural and the elders got upset over it. They like the pharisees in Jesus day don’t want anyone coming in and taking their authority away. They kick those who cause problems (in their eyes) out.
Side note: Meeting attendance at this hall is down 60% from 7 years ago. Why do you think that is?
Just got back from the Circuit Assembly and there were less than 10 new baptisms.
I know for a fact that they lost more than ten Dubs in the same period.
I’m not impressed by the video but would like to know what the “charges” were for curiosity sake. I don’t think either of the two carpet cleaners/Princes and Kings really give a crap about the only law Jesus placed on mankind.
What amazes me is that the current JW method of judicial committees and disfellowshipping is totally dissimilar to what was practiced in the early Christian congregation, but no JWs (who are supposedly SO tuned in to scripture) ever question or dispute the Society’s practices in this regard.
In the early Christian congregation, there was absolutely NO “committee” of three who made decisions in secret about these matters and then pronounced judgement on the “sinner” in front of the congregation and compelled the congregation to shun the person based on their secret decision.
What was described in the scriptures is that, if a person was found to be engaging in gross sin, ONE member of the congregation would go and talk to the person and offer them aid in correcting the situation. If the sinner refused the help, then several congregation members were supposed to go to the sinner and offer their help. If, at that point, the sinner refused the help of several, then the matter was taken before the entire congregation, and the congregation members were urged to treat the sinner like someone “in the world” so that they might be moved to repentance and rejoin the congregation.
Christians didn’t shun people “in the world.” They spoke to them and treated them just like anyone in the congregation EXCEPT that they didn’t share the “special” affectionate greetings that were extended to fellow Christians.
Also, back then, “eating” with a person wasn’t the social thing that it is today. It was a much more intimate association that was shared.
So, in the early Christian congregation, there was no edict passed onto the entire congregation that required that a person be shunned that was determined by a secret committee. There were no “letters” sent to the sinner. There was an honest, personal effort extended in an attempt to help the person, and it was extended several times.
JWs claim to be following the example of the early Christian congregation in what they do, but their actions prove that they are 180 degrees in the opposite direction from what was practiced by early Christians.
Terry, let me start by stating that I totally understand your situation & know how you feel.
I was a JW for over 14 years, however I had several problems with their doctrine. When I drifted away & they started their witch-hunt method of showing love, I felt that there must be more to life than a group that acts like this and calls itself the truth at the same time. My family has nothing to do with me, they are so self-righteous & judgemental, it’s sickening.
After taking a lengthy period wherein I researched everything about this org, I had to come to the conclusion that we were duped.
At first, your instinct after years of brainwashing is to refute any & everything contradictory to the teachings of the WTS. However, I always held high the concept of being sure of all things, I did this with everything in my life, just not the religion.
The best thing that ever happened to me wasn’t just leaving this (as you are sometimes unsure at first), but it was the research with proven facts and lots of soul searching. I prayed a lot, and then left the building on to a new life.
Relationships with your maker, in other words being a spiritual person does not require a man-made org. or meditator to God & his son. Jesus’ sacrifice was for all mankind, not just a select few that have twisted every biblical phrase or scripture to support their ridiculous doctrines. Doctrines that are illconceived & change on the fly for whatever mood they feel like do not hold any water here brother.
Hold your head up high & know that God is there for all of us.
Take care,
James
having been an elder for many years when i was a jw the elders in this vidio where not very well prepared. however the recipent was obviously rank. if someone no longer wishes to be part of the club have the balls and self respect to own up to your decision to leave. i personally have issues with jws useing disfellowshipping as thier personal hell fire but they reserve the right to keep who they want in thier club as i see it tom-d
To tom-d 2286—–
I gather from your post (as according to you) that the guy being disfellowshipped did not have the balls to quit?
That would imply (by you) that the 2 elders giving the guilty verdict had the balls to do so.
And I guess you also think that the 2 handfuls who run the society have the balls to keep the slave work go timely. My friend, having the balls is not the most important thing. No, not unless you have a dick to go with it.
From the posts that jw’s post here gives the indication they are dickless brainless.
I have noticed that as of late my mother and sister have started speaking with me. I am not sure but has something changed with the talking to family members who are disfellowshipped? It was over six years since they spoke with me last.
I am probably grabbing at straws but was just wondering if anything was new.
Or maybe my mom is tired of being pushed around by the organization, as for my sister I am not sure as her husband is a staunch elder and takes no crap from anyone he reminds me of my dad, then on the other hand it was my dad that directed him into the organizaiton and my dad was a cruel staunch elder. He spied on people in the cong. and always put people under a microscope like what he did to me.
Hated it all. I think the video is a good idea, I believe that if a person decides to attend a committee meeting they should have the right to tape or record it for their own protection. No one can argue with accurate recorded facts. I too was disfellowshipped in absentia, you wouldn’t catch me at no committee meeting as I have seen the way some witnesses have be raked over and destroyed by judical committiees. Some have like mentioned already had nervous breakdowns like myself while I was a witness three in all. or how about those ones whose lives are ended by suicide, how sad, what a travesty.
I will take my chances with God being my judge not a group of men who are eager to see you fall so they can disfellowship you. I swear that it was like some elders had notches on their belts for the number of ones they disfellowshipped. Like a compition.
I hated the organization and I am so happy to be a free liberated person. Thank God God answered my prayers as He gave me the strength to leave this cult of evil doers. Liars, hypocrites, and the crap with the UN and the blood stuff oh they deserve everything they get and then some.
Terry
I agree that the fellow was a little cocky, however it is rather apparent that the elders weren’t well or somewhat prepared at all.
Such a shame to see this in the flesh, did it not occur to these elders at any point that this is a person’s life being affected? Perhaps they were too wrapped up in how they felt knowing they had to deliver the news? To me, being that this can dramatically change a person’s life, would it not be pertinent & vital to ensure that the focus was on the person being Df’ed, therefore compassion & love would be of chief importance?
Oh wait a minute, how dumb of me, the WTS & it’s image is the most important! Forget about compassion, love & forgiveness, actually while you’re at it, let’s not bother emulating any of Christ’s examples. After all, the elders & other JW’s model themselves after a man-made org, not God or Christ.
Remember everyone, it’s in their dedication at baptism to not only devote yourself to God & Christ, but also the org. The real difference here though, is that dedication to the org comes first & foremost.
That is absolutely true in the case of comments posted here by JW’s. If the JW’s were mindful & fearful of God & Christ, they would realize he wouldn’t approve of them being here. However, obviously they don’t fear that at all, they fear someone in their group or org. finding out, know don’t they?
I meant internet not interest. oops.
I found your reply quite interesting. I had no idea about this issue in Moscow, would you please direct me to where I could read this myself. I would be very appreciative. I am no longer a JW since 1999 was in the org. for 38 years and a fourth generation witness. I could not stand the hypocrisy of the org. and as the for the whole org. I beleive them to be as many have already stated a CULT.
They care about no one only their statistic. and as the the figure 40,000 disfellowshipping I bet it is alot more than that in recent years, as it seems from what I see on the interest there must be 10s of thousands leaving constantly.
Thanks for sharing your comments.
Terry.

Yes, the 2 elders on video were very polite not question about it, perhaps out of guilty for what they had just done, rendering a guilty decision without any defense. For them to deliver the guilty verdict they had to be part of the judicial committee therefore the uncomfortable behavior just like a dog with the tail between the legs? No one here is trying to soot the messenger, at least I am not. The message is what is in question.
We are not in 13th century where a person accused of wrongdoing like witchery would just be burnt. We live in a more civilized world (well most of us do, apparently JW’s still stuck in the dark ages) isn’t a person supposed to be innocent until found guilty? Every person is entitled to a defense is he/she not? How would you like to be found guilty without have the chance to a defense??
It would have been more intelligent for you to come in here and say: I am a JW and I agree with the decision of the Elders. At least we would know you are one of the brain-washed bunch and not able to see anything else outside the perimeters allowed by the ORG.
You talk about being fair, any idea what the word means?
Chances are that he DID got the letters
If he didn’t, he would’ve had a much bigger reaction then that….
I wouldve went and talk with them, using the bible, reasoning from the scripture. If they could prove I was wrong, I would change
I have to say, I’m glad this guy was disfellowshiped! He obviously had no self respect or respect for anything.
I have been through a disfellowshipping. And truly, these two elders shown on this video were doing their best to be polite and talk to this man. They were put on the spot by someone who obviously did not care to go back into the religion but only had one idea in mind and that was to make them look like fools. And did anyone ask how it was this man had the camera so conveniently with his knowing it would be elders at his door?
I am not saying I totally agree with the idea or the process or ideas of JW’s, but I am saying…. let’s be a bit fair here and balanced in what we see and think.
I’m feel sorry for this guys. The younger elder seems to be a good guy, anyway, the guy in camera looks like a jerk with them. If even have been more friendly and this video would be a real masterpiece of the event we are trying to show here. But in this case, the elders seems just to be poor victms as the case of camera guy…
Rest in peace and watch the gradual collapse of this empire
Obviously hudsoncarl you are a witness in good standing and have never questioned any doctrine of the watchtower society. Or if you’re not a witness you don’t really grasp what control they exercise over it’s members. The scripture they read at l timothy 6:3 says nothing about disfellowingshipping. I’m surprised he even opened the door for them. They were only following their “mothers” procedures. They say Jehovah is their Father and the organization is their mother. Rarely do they talk about Jesus and his gospel of love. Rather we call them the “Do Mores” No matter how much time & effort their members spend in the door to door canvassing, it’s never enough. They disfellowship about 40,000 people a year and brag about it in their literature. But as a result of this shunning policy they have broken up many families. In fact they are outlawed in Mowcow, Russia for that very thing, destroying families. They are a cult.
Obviously nick has no idea what disfellowshipping is. It is the prime example of the mind control tactics of a cult exerting control over it’s members. Check out the scripture they read. It says nothing about excommunicating. If someone came to your door and now wanted to cut you off from all association and communication with people you’ve known and considered your friends how would you receive them? Because that is exactly what they did. It will be announced to the congregation and now any Jehovah’s Witness that talks to him can also be disfellowshipped, that also includes his family who may still be JW’s.
Folks, the above message clearly shows how insane this whole thing is. How can anyone with even a half a brain not realize that God is NOT directing this org?
Let’s not lose sight of the fact that every single doctrine, policy or matter is in direct opposite to how Christ & God would handle things. Where is the spirit of love, forgiveness & compassion?
As stated at least 2 million times prior to this, not only do we have a ludicrious judicial system here, we have an org that has not provided one correct prophecy, is blantantly guilty of many atrocities & is part of the world-wide empire of false religion.
The only reason people go through all of this suffering, is that they have elected to believe in this system. Hopefully, before it is too late, more of these people who have suffered enough, will come to the realization that they or anyone else for that matter, do not need an earthly org. for God’s will to be done.
I understand it is very hard to meld back into society once you have left, however just because the WTS constantly supplants the whole concept of how there is nothing else beyond them & their system in the rank & file mindset, this does not mean they are right.
Truth is based on correct teachings & a solid foundation, none of which can be said of the WTS doctrine.
Thank you,
James
These two Elders are typical of all elders. In the real world they are nothing but security guards, cold cuts slicers and messengers. In the Kingdoom hall they are Princes and Kings. Nobody’s! Trying to sound humble reading the Bible in a low monotous voice. And grandpa in the back looks like a cabdriver in his stupid coat.
I really hate these people and I hate my parents who brought me up in the BORG from a child. My life is so messed up now because of it.
there’s so much frustration re: DFing…and so much hurt to individuals who have been told all their lives not to associate w/ anyone outside the JW unless it’s secular or school related, then to be DFed and cut off from the only friends/support systems/community they have…people in this situation go into survival mode…and videoing this may have helped the one who was excommunicated to process the situation a bit.
i was involved in many committee meetings where certain elders had hidden agendas….in one, where i confessed to touching a girl “inappropriately”, the brothers explained that god’s holy spirit wasn’t on my family b/c of that, explaining why my sister tried to kill herself and was institutionalized , why my uncle killed himself and my dad had a nervous breakdown (all in a matter of months…there was no condolenses re: the disasters happening in my family, only finger pointing that i was the culprit)….i was 19 at the time, but looking back that was a horrid responsibility to put on a kid….and pretty much had nothing to do w/ how a loving God would respond to that situation or how Jesus would’ve handled it.
back to videoing….there’s a strict (cover your ass) policy when it comes to committee meetings, etc. No taping of any kind, and no sharing the proceedings with anyone outside of the three elders and the accused. if meetings were taped there would be a huge shift in the organization (i wish i had the above meeting taped).
btw, i bet those brothers were given a reeming for not walking away or asking him to turn off the tape…..i promise you a letter from bethel is going to all the cong elders right now so this can’t happen again.
now that we have the technology, i hope people tape more committee meetings and things like this….there’s something fishy about the current situation (the elder CYA mandate) for people who want to stay in the organization b/c it’s all they have and they’re fighting not to be thrown out alone into ‘the world’.
“we’re imperfect” and “jehovah will see that it works out” are bogus answers that keep those in power in the organization free of responsibility.
that’s all. i have to go wash up to my elbows before i eat my manna.
i think it’s called ‘being tried absentia’. when a defendent refuses to attend the trial, or can’t be located (sometimes, has left the country and can’t be extradicted), the trial moves forward. and, of course, there is an appeals process if the defendent wants to contradict anything presented. in the case of this video, the guy’s attitude makes it seem to me that he would ignore letters inviting him to attend the meeting with the elders. not helping with light, not inviting them in, all of that shows that he’s obnoxious and not interested in what they are saying, nor in why they feel he did something wrong. how sad for him…
I heard that the youngest of the two elders (the one “fluently” reading the Bible) is the Theocratic Ministry School Overseer of his congregation and was converted after falling in love with a Jehovah’s Witness babe.
Let me ask you dirk gently (Comment ID: 2239), what would have done?
Just curious, I too would have acted differently, however what would you say?
Well, not much can be stated here other than the obvious.
I do have one question though. How many people know of a court or justice system in this world that would try & convict a person without the allegedly guilty on hand to answer questions or have a defense?
The only place I’ve read or heard about this type of unfair justice being carried out are nations that are run by totalitarian dictatorships. Need I say anymore?
Hmmm…a bit feeble. I think the guy making the film did himself no favours in how he came across. His attitude was disrespectful, sarcastic and a fine example of how not to do things. I’m suprised he let the video be shown. I’d be embarrased if I were him.
