If you think the Bible says we will inherit sin from our farther’s will you please explain Deut 24:16 for me. A slight but important contradiction perhaps?

I’m 35 yrs old and am finally in therapy as well. Years over due. I was df’d when I was 22/23. When I read what you wrote I felt like it was something I had written….

I’m just starting to make my own decisions and to grow up. I too have struggled with addictions. Last year was the first time I understood how old I was. It’s a hard reality.

My father died when i was 14 (I watched it happen-sledding accident) and mom 9 months after I was df’d for telling on myself again. My mom trained me to view them as telling my dad whatever I did wrong. I told myself, I’d rather be punished now then later…. and I wasn’t a bad kid. I realise now just how normal and actually innocent I was…. they stole that from me.

I can still hear the elder Brother Selesky say “I don’t want to have to tell your father why you aren’t here” (new system). What a nice thing to tell a 15 yr old child. Talk about a guilt trip to be perfect.

Who in that cruel religion reached out to help me or my mother BEFORE I was df’d? Who stepped up in the JW’s and looked after widows and orphans?

One man would talk to me at meetings until ppl started talking… I viewed him as a male father figure… He told me at one meeting “People are talking, my wife is jealous, we can’t talk like we used to and we can’t go out in service together anymore. I’m sorry…” He’s the only one who secretly reached out to me after mom died. He was a good man.

I could go on and on and on about things Elder’s wifes said about me…. One example – Working at the kingdom hall after service (or the meeting) one afternoon I helped plant trees. Some of the kids said keep patting down the dirt, harder, harder… so I did. (I lived w/3 other sisters). I didn’t see that it had just been watered then covered with dirt. Tom Emerson’s wife said “she deserved it (my foot got covered in mud of course) if she’s that stupid.” I heard her say that. I was ok, I’m a big girl, I can take a joke… until I heard her say that about me. After cleaning myself up, crying in the bathroom, I got over it and went back outside to paint I believe it was.

I’ve been stumbled so many times by my brother who refuses to let me meet his 4 yr old son, etc. etc. I may just write a book.

I put names here because I would love for them to read this (if they are googled-how i found this page) and have to remember.

Would they feel any guilt?
