Jean-Claude Lavoie, a 26 year old Canadian Jehovah’s Witness, died in December 2006 after refusing a blood transfusion while being treated for an intestinal tumour, the Canadian TQS television network reported.
Former Jehovah’s Witness Jonathan Lavoie, Jean-Claude’s brother, has since launched an internet petition (written in French) calling on the federal government to make it illegal for a person to refuse treatment on religious grounds.

After heavy pressure from the Watchtower Society Peter Mosier’s site quotes.watchtower.ca has been shut down in compliance with the terms of a Settlement Agreement.
Peter Mosier: “The domain “Watchtower.ca” has been transferred to WTS (I assume they will have it pointing to Borg.org watchtower.org ASAP). My copies of the site have been destroyed, the files deleted, and my WT Library CD has been destroyed, in accordance with the Settlement Agreement which will afford a “discontinuance” of their suit against me”. The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania have initiated legal proceedings against Peter Mosier, who has been displaying “Quotes” from the Jehovah’s Witnesses publication on his website. The law suit seeks a reported $100,000 in damages and a court order to silence the website. Read the rest »
