More and more newspapers and online news-sources are paying attention to the fact that the Society tries to silence child abuse-policy critics like Bill Bowen and Barbara Anderson. The Watchtower Society strikes back by telling the public ‘how good they are in handling child molestation in the congregations’.

On friday, may 10, 2002, I received the following e-mail from the Office of Public Information of Jehovah’s Witnesses:

On the Authorized Site of the Office of Public Information of Jehovah’s Witnesses, jw-media.org, there are two very propagandistic video’s. The first one features the Organizational Spokesman for Jehovah’s Witnesses, J. R. Brown, telling: “We have a very aggressive policy to handle child molestation in the congregations, and it is primarily designed to protect our children”

For the second video they have used the befriended Professor of Sociology, Dr. Rodney Stark and other scientists.

The weakest part of the Society’s reaction is that they don’t dare to take the bull by the horns. There is no mention of Bill Bowen or any other critic and no direct response to the allegations portrayed in the media. It smells like old Soviet propaganda…
